Chinese surgical thread withdrawn from hospitals

The Minister of Health Eugen Nicolaescu requested the State Sanitary Inspection to check the lots of surgical thread, after a woman from Arges County, who had caesarian surgery at a hospital from Calinesti, died soon after the surgery, three months ago. The control at local level pointed out that the thread used for the surgery was not sterile and full of bacteria. Read more

The Romanian deposit guarantee fund in the banking system is among the most efficient in European Union, according to a study ordered by the European Commission, quoted by the international media. Faced with an average bank crisis, only seven countries – Bulgaria, Estonia, Spain, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania and Sweden – would have enough national funds and would not have to resort to additional contributions. 4-year-old girl dies after polyp surgery

The family of a four-year-old girl who died after polyp removal surgery on Wednesday filed a complaint with the Cluj Doctors’ College, charging that the girl died because of the anaesthetic. Alexandra Oancea was operated on by a team of doctors led by the deputy director of the local CFR University Hospital, Sliviu Albu. Read more
