December 21 Association president stopped hunger strike after promises Parliament will adopt Lustration Law

Doru Maries, president of the December 21 Association, announced today that he gives up hunger strike. The announcement was made after a meeting with representatives of several civic organisations and Deputies Chamber Speaker Roberta Anastase, who assured him that the Lustration Law would be adopted by the Parliament on May 20, Mediafax informs.

Dominique Strauss Kahn is straightforward in recommending Romania to delay its intention to join the euro zone. “If you adopted the euro one or even two years later, it would be for the better. The objective reality is to have good economic figures to respect the requirements of joining the euro zone and then to realise that what has been done has been done in haste”, IMF chief told Incont.ro. The economists interviewed by HotNews.ro on the issue agree: instead of joining the euro zone like the Greeks did, it's better to solve the economy's problems first and only later to think about it.

Romania's President launched some interesting messages during his meeting with IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss Kahn. He said that Romanian considers a long term cooperation with the IMF. He added that when the current agreement ends, Romania will most probably request a stand by agreement of assistance or a flexible credit line.
