Over 600,000 Romanians celebrate their name day on Saint Vasile’s Day

On the first day of the New Year, some 615,095 Romanians celebrate their name day, on Saint Vasile’s Day, according to statistics.
As many as 523,389 men and 91,706 women in Romania celebrate their name day on January 1st, according to data supplied by the Administration and Interior Ministry (MIRA).
MIRA statistics show that 511,461 Romanians are named Vasile and 10,710 are named Vasilica while fewer bear derivate names like Sile (507), Sica (423), Silica (231) and Vasi (57).
As far as women are concerned, most of them are called Vasilica (87,865), followed by those with the name Vasilca (2,249), Sica (953) and Vasila (639). AGERPRES
