Maritime ports closed because of strong wind
December 13, 2008
The seaports of Constanta Nord and Constanta Sud (south-eastern Romania at the Black Sea) and the river-maritime sector Constanta Sud-Agigea were closed because of the storm which swept the Romanian seaside as of Friday evening.
According to the manager of the Constanta Harbour Master’s Office, Alexandru Mezei, the wind which is blowing from the north-east with over 60 km/h prompted the postponement of navigation maneuvers and of the operations of loading/unloading of commercial ships and imposed traffic restrictions on the Danube-Black Sea Canal through Agigea harbour lock.
The Constanta Harbour Master’s Office on Friday sent the ships from the ports of Constanta, Midia and Mangalia storm warnings in order to prevent accidents and warned the commanders of the ships which were in the external roadstead that they should keep the engines on in order to avoid drifting.
