President Nicolas Sarkozy congratulates Romania on National Day
November 28, 2008
France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy on Friday sent his Romanian counterpart Traian Basescu, a congratulatory letter occasioned by Romania’s National Day.
‘On the occasion of Romania’s National Day, I am delighted to congratulate you and the Romanian people,’ reads the letter of France’s President, sent AGERPRES by the French Embassy in Bucharest.
France’s President underscores in the said letter that the year 2008 was marked by the renewal of the Romanian-French relations through the signing, in February, of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
‘This accord, which is being implemented, has allowed France to breathe a new lease life into its long-lasting friendship with this big country, Romania’, Nicolas Sarkozy wrote.
The head of the French state – the country that is holding until end-December the half-yearly presidency of the EU’s Council – is thanking the authorities in Bucharest for ‘Romania’s precious support for the actions’ of the French presidency of the EU.
‘Your country is firmly getting involved in favor of building a stronger and more united Europe and I thank you for this. Mr President, please accept my feelings of special consideration,’ Nicolas Sarkozy concludes the congratulatory letter sent to the Romanian President three days before 1 December. AGERPRES
