Traian Chebeleu, special representative of Foreign Ministry, for Black Sea

Ambassador Traian Chebeleu has been recently appointed, by order of ForMin Lazar Comanescu, as representative with special prerogatives at the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE), for cooperation in the extended regions of the Black Sea, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Cosmin Boiangiu told Agerpres on Thursday.
‘The position of special representative for cooperation in the extended region of the Black Sea was introduced in the scheme of the Foreign Ministry, by government resolution 573, of May 28, and so was the position of special representative for cooperation in energy projects, which has not been filled as yet, ‘ Boiangiu said.
He added that the tasks of Chebeleu, a career diplomat of rank of ambassador, who currently is general director at the Foreign Ministry, will aim at ‘the promotion, implementation, and facilitation of Romania’s projects in the area of the Black Sea.’
Traian Chebeleu entered the Foreign Ministry in 1964, as attache-secretary 3. In 1969, he was sent to the permanent mission of the United Nations, where he advanced rapidly, from secretary 2 to secretary 1. In 1986, he had to leave the foreign ministry, he worked as engineer with the Trust of Hydro-Engineering Constructions.
In the early nineties, Chebeleu was head of the Political Directorate of Synthesis, director at the cabinet of the minister, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, during the term-in-office of prime minister Adrian Nastase, presidential adviser and spokesman for president Ion Iliescu, during 1992-1996.
After 1997, he was sent to Vienna, to Romania’s mission with international organizations in Austria, and, from 1999 to 2001, he was ambassador at this mission. After 2001, he was Romania’s ambassador in Vienna, and at the end of his term-in-office in Vienna he was appointed foreign affairs director at the Chamber of Deputies, when Adrian Nastase was speaker of the Chamber of Deputies. He was changed from this position, after Nastase resigned. AGERPRES

30 Oct Central bank keeps key interest unchanged at 10.25 pct
Bucharest, Oct 30 /Agerpres/ – The National Bank of Romania (BNR) announced on Thursday the Board’s decision to keep the monetary policy interest rate unchanged at 10.25 pct per annum.
