Romanian govt sets up ministerial group for talks with trade unions

October 30, 2008

Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu has required that a discussion group be set up to include the ministers of labour, economy and finances, education, health, interior and administration reform in order to hold talks with the representatives of the trade union federations, the Government’s press office announced on Thursday.

The leaders of the representative trade union federations have been invited to hold talks on the issues they currently focus on, with the discussions to be held with the ministers who are part of the dialogue group at noon on Friday, Oct. 31 at the labour ministry’s headquarters.

Minister of Interior and Administration Reform Cristian David has been appointed coordinator of the group on behalf of the Government.

The decision to set up the group was taken amid the public debates held in the recent days on the wage issue and the need for an approach by dialogue to the problems that the Government and the trade unions seek to debate, the press office said. AGERPRES
