Last post inn in southern Romania to be rebuilt

The last post inn in Southern Romania, that burned up a decade ago, will be rebuilt by a Romanian investor that will take into account the original project. Located in Gura Vitioarei village, some 90 kilometers north of Bucharest, close to Valenii de Munte, ‘The Red Inn’ burned up 10 years ago when it was hosting a restaurant.

After the fire, all that was left of the Red Inn was the foundation and several fragments of wall. Local authorities struggled to find an investor to rebuild the inn, given that the local budget does not have enough funds able to support such an investment.

In 2008, a businessman in the area leased the ruins and the land for 49 years. He plans to rebuild the inn by next summer, bring it to its initial condition, by using the same types of materials the original building was made of. The project also includes a lake and playgrounds for children.

Gura Vitioarei village is mentioned in the locality’s historic documents thanks to the exceptional valuable monument the Red Inn from Fagetu village, who was built in the 17th century and used as a halting place for the mail coaches.

The inn was located half-distance between Ploiesti (60 kilometers north of Bucharest) and Valenii de Munte locality (30 kilometers north of Ploiesti). Valenii de Munte hosted two inns, one of them, called ‘La Francu’, which was moved and rebuilt at the Village Museum. AGERPRES
