Minister of the Interior calls for faster dismantling of criminal rings
August 30, 2008
In a video-conference in Constanta (south-east), Minister of the Interior and Administrative Reform Cristian David on Friday urged the chiefs of county police departments to set the intensification of criminal ring dismantling as their top priority for the next period.
David told a press conference that a special intervention unit will be rendered operational to jointly pursue this goal with the Prosecution Office and to see that a consistent framework is in place for the investigation activity. David once again highlighted the need for a good cooperation between police and prosecutors.
The Minister of the Interior insisted on the enhanced responsibility of chief-inspectors and on the professionalism and integrity of police, who must firmly reject any connection with criminal groups.
According to David, county authorities know about the operative situation and all competent institutions must join forces to put an end to all activities that finance these criminal rings, such as usury, prostitution, games of chance, debt collection. AGERPRES
