Romanian authorities to organize job fair in Italy

The Romanian authorities will organize a job fair for the Romanian workers, on February 23, in Rome, Italy, aimed at attracting labour force in Romania, PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu said in briefing following the Government’s Wednesday meeting.

‘There is a serious lack of labour force in Romania. Unemployment rate dropped to 4 percent. Some 170,000 jobs were created last year. In order to support the economic growth we need more labour force. Concrete action will be taken soon. A job fair for the Romanian workers will be held in Rome, attended also by employers from Romania. Over 1,500 jobs will be offered in the country. Besides the wage, meal and accommodation vouchers will also be provided,’ Tariceanu said.

These actions will be advertised through the Romanian newspapers in Italy and Spain and the Romanian embassies in these countries.

‘Representatives of the business community are supporting this project in Italy, given that we are short of labour force in Romania. I do not imagine that those 1 million Romanians will return home. Some of them have found good jobs in these countries and want to settle there. They can afford such a decision. It may seem surprising, but I believe many Romanians might earn more in Romania,’ the PM said. ROMPRES
