The Worlds Records Academy posted on its official web site a Romanian record: the world’s Most Successful Coach is Octavian Bellu, former coach of Romania’s national gymnastics team.
As coach Bellu won 16 Olympics gold medals and a total of 279 medals at World and European Championships and Olympic Games. Bellu led the gymnastics team to five world and two Olympic titles, as well as coaching numerous individual gold medallists.
‘’Since 1991, Romania has been the most successful women’s gymnastics power,” the Worlds Academy Awards reports on its web site.
Octavian Bellu coached such accomplished gymnasts as Lavinia Milosovici, Andreea Raducan, Simona Amanar and Catalina Ponor.
Although a moderately successful gymnast in his early years, Belu’s success has been in the field of coaching rather than performing, and he has spent his adult life in this profession, reads the same source.
Worlds Records Academy is the biggest international organization which which certifies new world records. In July, at the anniversary of 31 years since the Olympics of Montreal, the international organization announced the registration of another Romanian record: the most 10 scores at a single edition of the Olympic Games set by gymnast Nadia Comaneci.
