Romanian businessman Dinu Patriciu has sold 75 percent in the Rompetrol oil group of companies to Kazakh corporation KazMunayGaz for $2.7 billion. According to Patriciu the entire Rompetrol Group is put at $3.616 billion. Read more

Parliament should sanction the single-vote system this session

The legislation concerning the introduction of the single-vote system will have to pass in the ongoing session and, should the motion reach an impasse because of the parties having assumed the matter are walking back on it or because they attempt to call early elections, the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Government will make use of the levers at their disposal to get the matter passed, including calling an early election in January-February 2008, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Bogdan Olteanu told Rompres in an interview on Tuesday.
