Rompetrol insists having informed BVB prioritarily about stake sale
August 30, 2007
Rompres is insisting that it informed the Bucharest Stock Exchange and the National Securities Commission (CNVM) via the Newswire international PR company about the sale of a 75-percent stake in it before notifying the sale to other persons.
‘We are reiterating that The Rompetrol Group (TRG) informed the National Securities Commission (CNVM) and the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) about the conclusion of the transaction whereby KazMunayGaz acquired a 75-percent stake in the group registered in the Netherlands before any other official dissemination of the information to other persons,’ reads a press release issued by Rompetrol.
TRG insists that the BVB and the CNVM should clarify the aspects of the sale of the 75-percent stake of the shares in the group to KazMunayGaz (KMG) which it deems not clarified from the direct correspondence with the group, arguing that communication through press releases may generate excessive volatility on the capital market.
Rompetrol has also published the specifications of the Newswire PR firm about the transmittal of the sale announcement to the BVB and the CNVM, the London Stock Exchange and other international media.
Rompetrol’s statements came after the CNVM announced it will analyse trade in Rompetrol shares of August 24 and August 27 performed on the BVB. On Wednesday, BVB informed that the halt in transactions of Rompetrol Rafinare (RRC), Rompetrol Well Services (PTR) and VEGA had been taken exclusively on media information.
According to the BVB, Romanian television channels broadcast the first news about the transaction at around 13:17, local time, after which it had to verify whether or not the information was true. ROMPRES
