June 29, 2007
The workers planting trees in the Bucharest Izvor Park yesterday discovered a projectile known to have been used in WWI. It was removed by the specialists and taken to a special unit at Ciolpani to be detonated.
The spokesman for the Ciolpani Special Emergency Intervention Unit, Major Ovidiu Henke, stated that the pyro-technicians had been called to the Izvor Park at about 13 hours to collect a projectile.
A team of specialists went to the scene and realized that the reported ‘bomb’ was a 76-mm projectile without a warhead, from WWI.
