Policeman shot dead during ID check in Moscow

A policeman was shot dead 30 minutes after midnight as a police patrol stopped three people to check their IDs in southern Moscow, a Moscow police spokesman said Monday.

“On Monday at 0:30 a.m. a car patrol stopped three suspicious-looking males for an identity check. One of them suddenly took out a handgun and fired on one of the policemen,” the spokesman said.

The policeman died from wounds on the site, and the criminals escaped.

A special operation to detain them is underway. RIA Novosti
