Erste Bank group reports record profits

Erste Bank reported a 30.1% increase in its net profit last year, up to 932.2 million euro, the highest in the history of the Austrian financial group. The contribution of the recently acquired Romanian Commercial Bank-BCR was evaluated to 27.4 million euro, a company press release says. Read more
Anti-graft prosecutors take deputy to court

National Anti-corruption Department (DNA) prosecutors have taken to court Democratic Party-PD deputy Stelian Dutu for abuse in office against public interests. According to a DNA press release, Dutu is suspected of ill-intentions in the case where 3.3 million euro were lost by a local public institution in the county of Constanta. Read more
