Romania Opens Hotline for Jobseekers in UK

December 14, 2006

The International Migration Organization and the UK Embassy in Romania opened a free of charge number for Romanians interested in the labor conditions in the UK as of next year.

The number, 088.23.456 will work between December 31st and March 31st, 8:00 – 20:00.

“Persons with special skills qualifying for the high-qualification program will be admitted in the same conditions as before,” the UK Ambassador in Bucharest, Robin Barnett, elaborated for the public radio.

“Students will still be able to work in part-time jobs, up to 20 hours a week, while qualified workers would be accepted where there is an interior deficit of labor force”.

The UK decided to limit access to its labour market following the European Commission’s recommendation to permit Bulgaria and Romania to join the EU on 1 January 2007.
