“Romania Next To You”, Romanian cultural presence in Europe

“Romania Next To you” programme, organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) and the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) will include several musical events to start this week and conclude at the end of December, reads an ICR release for Rompres on Monday.
The series of events will open on Tuesday with a concert held by George Enescu Philharmonic (piano soloist Mihaela Ursuleasa, conductor Cristian Mandeal) at Grande-Duchesse Josephine-Charlotte Concert Hall in Luxembourg. The Philharmonic of Bucharest will give a concert on Wednesday, November 29 in Flagey Hall, Brussels, performed by the same famous Romanian soloist, while piano player Radu Lupu will perform on the stage of Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, on December the 3rd. The program will include Orchestral Suite No. 1 in D major op. 9 by George Enescu.
Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek Concert Hall in Copenhagen will host on December 1, the National Day of Romania, a concert given by Viniciu Moroianu (piano) and Laura Buruiana (cello) .
Mezzosoprana Ruxandra Donose will perform on the stage of Smetana Hall of Prague on December the 2nd, together with the Czech symphonic orchestra conducted by Leos Svarovsky.
Romanian musicians such as Virtuozii orchestra of Bucharest (Mihaela Ursuleasa – piano, Horia Alexandrescu conductor) will perform Mozart, Ligeti and Constantin Silvestri at Cadogan Hall of London.
Ad Libitum quartet will give concerts in Rome (Santa Maria Sopra Minerva Church), Tallinn (own Hall), Helsinki (Ritarihuone Hall) and Verona, and will present a programme that includes String quartet no. 2 by George Enescu.
The Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra (Silvia Marcovici – violonist, Horia Andreescu – conductor) will give a concert in Strasbourg, on December 15, hosted by Saint-Paul Basilic.
“Romania Next To You” programme will also include the presentation of some folk interpreters and artisans, as well as an exhibition of Romanian winter customs at the Christmas Fair – Marche de Noel in Strasbourg.
The Romanian participation in the event, hosted between November 25 – December 23, 2006, by Gutenberg Square of Strasbourg, has already enjoyed great success. The Romanian folk dances and songs are reprezented by the Rapsods of Gorj, the Alphorn Players of Campeni and the Traditions Group of Gherla. On December the 10th, groups of Romanian carol singers will join the others.
“Romania Next To You” will join the “Romania in Advent” programme organised by ICR in partnership with the MAE, within which Romanian groups and choirs give concerts in 24 European churches and cathedrals in the period before Christmas, the release reads. ROMPRES
